Special Studies of Prescription Drugs

ARC has conducted numerous studies concerning spending for prescription  drugs, including proposals involving reimbursement under the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Some of these studies are identified below:

  • Estimates of the impact of various proposals to change reimbursement methods on Medicaid expenditures for prescription  drugs.
  • Conducted several studies of the cost of covering prescription drugs in Medicare. The methodology was adopted by CMS to  estimate the cost of the Medicare Catastrophic Proposal.
  • Conducted several studies of national expenditures for prescription drugs, for the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association, the CBO and CMS.
  • Estimates of the cost to cover prescriptions with different cost sharing methods, maximum benefit amounts, etc. under  insurance programs, PPOs and HMOs, and under Medicare risk contracts.
